Good work: Good health

Good work: Good health

NHS Tameside & Glossop has just published a Mental Health Strategy 2011 – 2013 and there are a series of strategic priorities which link into that document. One of the target groups is ‘adults of working age’.

The council carries out health & safety inspections of local businesses. Where a business employs 50 or more people, the company must have a stress at work risk assessment etc.

The Good work: Good health charter is being awarded to committed businesses by New Economy Manchester.

We wanted to promote the charter to local businesses employing 50 employees or more. There is a self-assessment booklet which contains a section on mental health and  wellbeing, health & safety requirements and leadership. There are 8 parts in total.

This piece of work will feed back into Tameside and Glossop’s NHS strategy, which targets everyone – children, adults, families, older people. Mental wellbeing in Tameside is poorer than regional and national averages.
